Photographes pour la paix en Artsakh
est une vente solidaire de tirages d’artistes, limités chacun à 10 exemplaires, dont les profits iront au Fonds Arménien de France pour apporter une aide humanitaire aux populations blessées et déplacées du Haut-Karabagh.
La vente se déroule du 27 octobre au 27 novembre inclus. Les tirages seront produits et expédiés après le 27 novembre et leur réception est garantie avant les fêtes de fin d'année.
Le 27 septembre 2020, les populations civiles arméniennes du Haut-Karabagh, aussi appelé Artsakh, se sont réveillées au bruit de bombardements menés par l'armée azerbaïdjanaise. Depuis cette date, une guerre sanglante oppose les forces arménienne et du Haut-Karabagh à l'armée azerbaïdjanaise, soutenue par la Turquie et appuyée par des mercenaires étrangers notamment de Syrie.
Le nombre des victimes de cette guerre est estimé à au moins 5000 morts, et 90 000 déplacées (soit 60% de la population). En ce premier mois, des journalistes et le Human Rights Watch ont attesté de nombreux crimes de guerre, y compris le bombardement ciblé d'infrastructures civiles (hôpitaux, écoles, cathédrale), l'usage par l'armée azerbaïdjanaise de bombes à fragmentation interdites par le droit international, la torture, la décapitation et la mutilation des prisonniers de guerre et la diffusion de vidéos de ces actes sur les réseaux sociaux ainsi que l'exécution de prisonniers civils. Les Arméniens et la communauté internationale s’inquiètent d'un nouveau nettoyage ethnique et culturel.
Française, j’ai séjourné à plusieurs reprises en Arménie et y ai vécu quelques mois il y a deux ans. Je suis suspendue à mon téléphone depuis le 27 septembre, attendant chaque minute des nouvelles de mes amis partis au front. Des jeunes gens, étudiants, écrivains, artistes plasticiens, photographes, réalisateurs, qui se retrouvent à prendre part à cette guerre, non pas pour défendre une cause ou une idéologie, mais éviter un nouveau génocide.
Une centaine de photographes sont réuni⸱e⸱s pour attirer l’attention sur ce conflit meurtrier et lever des fonds afin de venir en aide aux populations réfugiées du Haut-Karabagh qui en sont les premières victimes. Quelle que soit la lecture que l'on fait de cette guerre, et en attendant une solution de paix qui tarde hélas à se dessiner, il est nécessaire d’apporter de toute urgence l'aide humanitaire aux 90 000 personnes déplacées qui ont trouvé refuge dans des villes d'Arménie.
Les profits de cette vente iront au Fonds Arménien de France, association française loi de 1901, reconnue d'utilité publique, qui travaille actuellement à envoyer de l'aide humanitaire sous la forme de médicaments, soins hospitaliers, logements et transports aux blessé⸱e⸱s et aux personnes réfugiées du Haut-Karabagh.

Photographers for Peace in Artsakh" is a solidarity sale of artists' prints, each limited to 10 editions, the proceeds of which will go to the Armenia Fund of France to provide humanitarian aid to the injured and displaced population of Nagorno-Karabakh. The sale runs from October 27 to November 27 inclusive. Prints will be produced and shipped after November 27th, with guaranteed receipt by end of year.
On September 27, 2020, the Armenian civilian populations of Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh, woke up to the sound of bombings carried out by the Azerbaijani army. Since that date, a bloody war has pitted the Armenian and Nagorno-Karabakh forces against the Azerbaijani army, which is supported by Turkey and powered by foreign mercenaries predominantly from Syria.
The number of war victims is estimated to be at least 5,000 dead, and 90,000 displaced (60% of the population). Within the first month of war, journalists and Human Rights Watch have documented numerous war crimes, including: the targeted bombing of civilian infrastructure (hospitals, schools, cathedral); the use by Azerbaijani forces of internationally banned cluster bombs, torture, beheading and mutilation of prisoners of war; and the dissemination of videos of these acts on social networks as well as the execution of civilian prisoners. Armenians and the international community are concerned about further ethnic and cultural cleansing.
A French citizen, I have visited Armenia on several occasions and had the opportunity to live there for several months in 2018. Since September 27, I have been hanging onto my phone awaiting every minute for news from my friends who have gone to the front lines. Young people, students, writers, visual artists, photographers, directors, who find themselves taking part in this war, not to defend a cause or an ideology, but to avoid another genocide.
Around 100 photographers have gathered to draw attention to this deadly conflict and raise funds to help the refugee populations of Nagorno-Karabakh who are the first victims. However one interprets this war, and as we all await a peaceful resolution (which is unfortunately slow to emerge), it is urgently necessary to provide humanitarian aid to the 90,000 displaced people who have found refuge throughout Armenia’s cities.
The profits from this sale will go to the Armenian Fund of France, a French Association according to the law of 1901 and a recognized non-profit organization, which is currently working to send humanitarian aid in the form of medicine, hospital aid, housing and transport to the injured and refugee peoples of Nagorno-Karabakh.
